Sailing vessels to be anchored in aline; to start with all canvas down, and to sail with fore-and-aft canvas only. 8. Trading Vessels from 20 to i 5 tons are permitted to carry square-sails. Licensed but Unregistered Cargo Boats to sail with working canvas only—ga(l'topsail added. 9. There will be no restriction as to canvas (provided it be fore n-.d rift) in any race unlesß specially noticed in foregoing rule. 10. A. ball will be hoisted at the main-yard-arm, 15 minutes before each race as a signal for takihg positions.
