RULES. !. N0 post entry allowed except for vcebbls or boats not in port ie time to enter. 2. Time allowances on tonnage as shewn liy following measurement. Take length on deck fiom fore part of stem to after part r f stern post; from which deduct extr. me breadth (exclusive of bolts or mouldings) : multiply this product by tho extreme breadth as above, and by half the breadth, and divide by 9-4 for tonnage. 3. Entries for trading vessels to be on the registered tonnage. Yachts as per Rule No. 2. Time f.,r tonnage : from a tons upwards. Jo seconds per ton ; under 5 ton-, 10 seconds per bail-ton . Vessels above SO tons nop to allow more time than frr 50 tons. 4. No sailing vessel wdl be allowed to use oaw, paddles, or poles ; nor take in nor throw out ballast after starting ; water to bo iiesli, and to be examiucd on coming in, at the di=eredcn of the Umpire. If not hoisted, the Keeatta will bo postponed until the following day. The Committee reserve to themselre- the power to postpone tho Regatta should the weather be unfavorable. 6. Each boat or failing vessel in the matches to carry a distinguishing flag not less than two feet in fly and eighteen inc! es in the hoist, which must be kept flying at the ma n ; fbtj for pulling boats to be not less than one loot square, and carried at the bows. 7. Sailing vessels to be anchored in aline; to start with all canvas down, and to sail with fore-and-aft canvas only. 8. Trading Vessels from 20 to i 5 tons are permitted to carry square-sails. Licensed but Unregistered Cargo Boats to sail with working canvas only—ga(l'topsail added. 9. There will be no restriction as to canvas (provided it be fore n-.d rift) in any race unlesß specially noticed in foregoing rule. 10. A. ball will be hoisted at the main-yard-arm, 15 minutes before each race as a signal for takihg positions.
