RETURN OF THE SUPERINTENDENT FROM WELLINGTON.

It lias been generally understood that Ins Honor tlie Superintendent went to Wellington at the commencement of the month to ! confer with Ihe General Government on subject of the transfer of the Waikato lf>-„ to Provincial administration foi the puvposi of colonization, under the resolutions passed by the House of Representatives in the last session. His Honor returned yesterday, and we have every reason to believe tlio* arrangements have been made which will render the transfer highly advantageous to the Province, and at the same time will relieve the General Government from a business which could be but indifferently managed by them, even v/itli a great deal of trouble and at a cost which it would be very difficult to curtail. There is no question but that the work of colonization can be most advantageously conducted by the local authorities, and we believe that the Auckland Executive will now have a fair opportunity of rendering iinportaut services to the Province.
