Having attended in my place in the House of Representatives, as your member during the whole of tha last Parliament, I am conversant with the various political plans and organizations that have existed, or exist, which bear on your interests, and those of the Province at large. Asa Marsden settler, lam also familiar with your wants and wishes, and should you do me the honor of again electing me your representative, I will not fail to support those measures which I know and feel will be to your advantage, and oppose thOße which I believe will prove detrimental to them. I am strongly in favour of Separation; I think that on the attainment of thi3 the prosperity of the North depends. I will be prepared to support, therefore, any proposal for complete Separation from the South Island, and withdrawal from the influence of Southern politicians. It will also be my endeavour to encouiage the introduction o,f population into the Province, and to promote the permanent settlement of the country ; on tho success that may attend the effort in this direcrection will mainly depend the future prosperity of the Province of Auckland, and especially of Marsden, which so much needs a resident and improving population. I am induced to come forward and again offer my services to you, at the request of a large number of the electors, and with the approbation of several of tho most influential of my late colleagues.
