Nine of the aged Hams are imported from tho flocks of Messrs. Sandy, Trondin, Kirkham, and Rudkin. The fleece of one recently shorn was 241bs. weight. Sheep from the above-named flocks have been the principal winners of prizes at all the recent Royal Agricultural, and Bath and West of England Cattle Shows. The superiority of Mr. Grigg's flock has been well established in this Province, having taken two-thirds of all the prizes for which they havo competed since 1859, in which year two of his imported Dams obtained first prizes. At the New Zealand Exhibition held at Dunedin the second prize was awarded tho three Ewe Hoggets shown by Mr- Grigg, and which afterwards brought at auction £95, the first prize being awarded to ono fully matured English Ewe. The prize for " General Superiority of Leicester Wool " was also awarded to Mr. Grigg. The weight of wool obtained from this flock is higher than that of any other in this Province. Many of the Ham Hoggets sold last year averaged loUbi. per fleece. REPORT OP NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION. " Tho Wool exhibited by Mr. Grigg, of Otalmhn, not only oxcecded every other colonial exhibit of longwool, but fliowed a marked superiority t» all the essential features of Leicester Wool over the samples sent for purposes of compaiison by tho Bradford Wool Association. The Auckland Wool was stronger, longer, more glossy, and altogether a better handling Wool, and there can he no doubt that where the same amount of cure and attention is paid, as must evidently have produced the satisfactory results apparent in Mr. Grigg's Wool, tho Auckland Province can produce long Wool of the best type exceeding in its essential features the best characteristics of the original breed."—Southern Monthly Magazine, Aug. 1865. No expense has been spared by Mr. Grigg ia obtaining the best Ranis for crossing that could be procured, and tho Sires from this flock aro admirably adapted for crossing with Merino Ewes, they having small heads, and also not having received any artificial feeding. Tho prices obtained at his annual sales of Bams havo been higher in each succeeding year. On tho last occasion, in 1864. thirty-five sheep averaged nearly £20 each. I respectfully call the particular attention of breeders to the following from the London Agent'i report of Mossrs. Driver, McLean & C 0..: —" With the rapid increase in the quantities of Wool imported from nil our colonies, except Tasmania, it is moro than ever necessary tbat attention should be paid to tho growth of Kew Zealand Wool, so as to produce a sample that will not only suit the wants of this market, bul compcte with the production of other Colonies. Wo require a long stapled Wool, well got up, and free from grass seed. We would rather lose a little in quality than sacrifice length of staple. Good combing flocks from New Zealand aro always well competed for in this market, whilst short stapled wasty Wool is much neglected." Catalogues will bo preparod and can be obtained at the Haymarket one week previous to sale. Terms:—Under £50 cash; above that amount approved Bills at 4 and 6 months, bearing interest at 10 per cent.
