Thin, with tiio 8154 ozs. sent to Melbourne, on the 10th instant, hy (ho TCangitoto.and (ho 18,139 ozs. shipped by the Auckland, on tho Ifith, for Sydney, m"kos a total export for the month of 32,285 ozs. This quantity would have been very largely augmented but for tho extremely heavy weather on tho We.'t Coast having delayed (ho arrival of steamers from that district. By'lho latest account from tho Hokitika we hear that there aro from 15,000 to 18,000 ozs. of gold in the hands of shippers, besides which 7500 ozg. wero to havo been sont to Sydney by tho Auckland. This would mako tho month's returns amount to considerably over 50,000 ounces, and, judaing from tho accounts received from tho Grey gold-fields, it doos not seem as if tho yield of gold had yet reached its maximum. As tho summer ndvances, and tho warm weather admits of more extended operations, a very largo Held, cnpnble of supporting thousands of minors, will in all probability be opened. Tho very favourable prospects which havo beon obtained on tho eoa beach, and tho widely spread deposits of auriferous Hand along (ha coast line, point to the fact that gold must oxist in very largo quantities in many parts of tho country at present untouched by tho pick of tho

Tho lettor of tho Warden of tho Grey Gold-fields speaks highly of tho coast from tho Grey northward to tho Duller Hiver, where ho says prospecting parties " find gold everi/tv/iert." A prospecting party is arranged to start this week, in order to examino tho country between Collingwood, one of our old and still-worked gold-fields, and tho Bullor River. The latest import from tho Grey to Nelson was 9250 ounces.
