CLEARED OUTWARDS MASCH B—Sea8 —Sea Shell, 50 tons, Harris, for East Cape, in ballast—Edmonds & Jakins, agents. | The N.Z.S.N Co's s.b., Wonga Wonga, Captain Thompson, left Wangarei at 7.30. p.m. on Wednesday last, experiencing a strong N.E. gale, with heavy sea throughout; was compelled to heave-to off Rangitoto Reef at 3 a.m. yesterday on account of the thickness of the weather, but proceeded on again at daylight, arriving in harbour at 7 a.m. She brings 2 head cattle, about 3 tons cargo, and the following passengers:—Mr. Mrs. and Miss Cleghorn, Mr. Ormiston, Mr. and Mrs. James, Mrs. Bain, Mrs. Seraacke, Messrs. Munro, Williams, Roose, Mrs. Leyland and Son. The Wonga leaves for the Bay of Islands at 2 p.m. to-day. The schooner Sea Gull arrived at Kaipara from Auckland on Sunday last. The schooner Jane, Capt. G. Cook, ai rived from Tauranga yesterday morning in ballast. The schooner Zillah, Capt. Sullivan, arrived from Napier via the Coast yesterday morning. Yesterday it blew a hard gale from the N.E., accompanied by heavy rain, and therefore very little business was transacted on the Wharf, and our outward bound vessels detained in harbour. Luckily theTe were very few casualties to the shipping, the only cnes being the sinking of one or two small craft and waterman's boats, and the cutter Three Sisters getting her stern frame smashed sgainst the Wharf. The ketch Sea Shell cleared for the East Cape in ballast yesterday. The Bough Rock Buoy.—Capt ThompEon, of the Wonga Wonga, reports that the buoy on the rough rock off Bangitoto Beef has blown adrift, and instead of being outside the rock, it is now half way between the rock and the shore, off the first point North of the North Head. The Ballabat.—The barque Ballarat, Captain Allan, sailed yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock for London direct, with a fine fair wind. She is the second wool ship of the season, end takes upwards of 2164 bales of wool, &c., valued at £44,930 ; she also take* several passengers. This is the third time that Capt. Allen has left here for home, and we wish him a prosperous voyage to the old country.— Wellington Spectator, March 1. ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. LADY BIRD, FROM THE SOUTH. The N.Z.S.N. Co.'s s.b. Lady Bird, Capt. Renner, left Otago at 3.30 p.m. on the 28th ultimo, arriving at Lyttelton at 3.45 p.m. on the Ist inst.; left again at noon on the 2nd, and arrived at Wellington at,B<#im. on the 3rd ; left again at 4 p.m. on the sth, arriving off Castle Point at 6 a.m. on tho 6th, remained there 2-k hours endeavouring to land cargo, but without success on account of the heavy sea rolling in. Arrived at Napier at 11.30 the same night, after a rough run, having experienced a very heavy easterly sea on the coast. On account of the heavy swell Betting into the bay, was unable to land any cargo at Napier, and after remaining there her contract time, left for this port at 1 p.m. on the 7th, experienaing strong N.E. winds and easterly swell along the coast. Rounded the East Cape at 3 p.m. on the Bth, and at 3.30. p.m. had to stop the engines in consequence of tho feed pipe bursting; proceeded on the passage again at 9.30 p.m., and had a fierce N.K. n-ith heavy swell in crossing the Bay of Plenty, and .from thence thick rainy weather up to her arrival in harbour at 6 o'clock yesterday evening. The Lady Bird did not call at Tauranga this upward trip, but will do so on the return passage. Capt. Renner reports that the Lord Ashley had arrived at Napier, but was unable to land any cargo there, on account af the heavy weather.
