SUDDEN DEATH.

On Saturday last, a soldier of the 96th legiment, named Robert Sraails, whilst under the effects of a violent fit of coughing, broke a blood vessel, and though ' he' appeared well . enough 'during the remainder of the day, sad to relate towards night he- expired. On the Sunday evening, he was conveyed to his final home by his brother soldiers, and buried with the 'usual military honours. He was a fine young man, only 25 years of age, and had been in the regiment four' years, which he joined in Birmingham.

H. M. S. North Star, sailed for Nelson on Saturday morning last, having on board bis Excellency Captain Fitzroy, R.N., and suite.

The Government brig also sailed the same day for the Chatham Islands, for the purpose of collecting witnesses in the case of piracy of the brigantine Hannah. ' '
