A certain well-known and charming young lady went for a motor run one evening recently, and returned home glowing with excitement. "Oh, mother," she said, "we just escaped from being ismashed to bits by a big touring car. Will just managed to get his hands on the steering wheel—" "Eh?" inquired her , young brother; "weren't his hands on the wheel, then?" And it took quite a long time to explain matters clearly. Mr Hugh D. Mcintosh (Sydney Tivoli) like Mr Hugh Ward (J. C. Williamson Ltd.) has been paying his chorus girls half-salaries during the present epidemic. "The 'flu," he remarked recently, "has cost me thousands."
