TO O'UR READERS, NEWS AGENTS, AND THE PUBLIC GENERALLY. ■ a WE wish to announce that, beginning with next week's issue, dated April 4th, the New Zealand Free Lance will be increased in price from threepence to fourpence. We regret having to make this increase, but we trust the public will recognise that we have been compelled to. do so by the greatly increased'cost of paper, and printing materials generally. The price of the paper on which the Free Lance is printed has gone up in value over 400 per cent, on pre-war rates and is still advancing. Our readers will thus see that the increase is unavoidable and has been forced upon us and that the extra, penny to be charged by no means will cover the extra cost to us of printing paper and other raw materials. . .
