Mr. Jolm Black, well known in New Zealand as the father of the Black Family of Musicians, writes from Sydney (where lie has settled down), that his daughters, Nellie and Elsie Black, who left last September with Fred Sbipmaii's vaudeville company for a tour of the- East, are "having the trip of their lives" and never tire of seeing the wonders of the East. "The Students' Magazine" of Sacred Heart College, Auckland, like its older brother, "Blue and White" of St. Patrick's College. Wellington, is a highly creditable publication. We have just' received a copy' of the 1917 issue, and Brother Liguori and the others responsible for its 'compilation, are to be complimented on a splendid production. As a magazine, it is quite pretentious, running to some 150 pages, and as a school chronicle it compares very favourably with any similar efforts we have- seen. The letterpress matter is readable and the numerous illustrations well executed. Not the least interesting features are the letters published from "S,H.C." old boys at the front.
