Dear Fkee Lance, —I. was in conversation last night with, a New Zealander who arrived "by this . week's Sydney steamer after 16 years' absence. He told me the point which impressed him most and gave him the greatest pride in his native country was the orderly behaviour of our soldiers when on leave in the streets. He found their demeanour and discipline in striking contrast with the state of things on the other side of the Tasman Pond. He doesn't like making invidious' comparisons, but the exemplary conduct of our soldiers when at large he thinks excuses a lot of praise for them. Thought I would just mention the point to you, and through you to General Public— Yours, Kikowhakaeisi, 23-2-16.
