Tenders are called by the Railway Department for the supply and delivery of provisions (specified in advertisement) for the railway dining cars. The secretary of the Postal Department calls tenders for printing; telephone directories up till the 30th inst.
The terms on which, the public of New Zealand are invited, to subscribe for the two million loan debentures are fully set forth by- advertisement elsewhere, and ought to/ be perused by everyone. They will be found exceptionally attractive. The price of issue is fixed at £100 per cent, and interest will be paid at the rate of 4J per cent., to be computed from the. 15th inst. As. applications may be made for £5, or any multiple of £5, it is practically open to everyone, to show his patriotism by subscribing for some of . these debentures. It is at the option of the applicant to take them up for a currency of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 years. In short, it is a gilt-edged investment of absolute security, and we expect confidently to find the loan ' largely oversubscribed.
