Suffragettes Swish Round in the SerpentineSN England the sad moon's shrieking sisters are still busily making fun and fury for the London populace.. Recently they arranged to address a meeting from boats in the Serpentine, and the police swept down and moored the boats out of reach in the middle of the water. Then the suffragettes came down in bathing suits and swam out to the boats; after which they were taken to the police station in their wet and clinging things, and the incident ended. This seems to mean that the younger and comelier women are demanding their share, of the glory. The average sufffagette would never dream of appearing in a bathing-^suit; because, although she may be foolish, she does 'know something. So here was the opportunity of the sleek and dimpled ones/ The suffra-* gette movement is largely sustained now by a mania for exhibitionism, and. the damsels who exhibited themselves to the huge London crowds would have great joy in the situation, however chilly the water may have been. But the incident .is of grave portent. Is this but the thin end of the wedge? Are we shortly to see churches and theatres in London invaded by zealous martyrs "mit noddings on? ■ .
