WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. MELROSE WARD. TO THE BURGESSES OF THE MELROSE WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN-I have the honour of offering myself as a candidate for a seat in the Wellington City Council as one of the Councillors for the Mehose Ward. I am, Your obedient servant, RICHARD KEENE.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. TO THE ELECTORS OF WELLINGTON WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— I have the honour to offer myself as a Candidate at the coming Election for a seat in the City Council. Trusting to have your vote and interest, I am, yours faithfully, ROBT. H. DAVENPORT.

CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS. TO THE ELECTORS OF MELROSE WARD. I HA YE a petition from over 100 electors, representative of all parts of Melrose Ward, asking me to stand for Election to the City Council. This petition has been submitted to both the "Times" and "Post" for scrutiny, and is as follows • — TO ARTHUR HARRY FULLFORD, ESQ., BROOKLYN. We, the undersigned ratepayers and residents in Melrose Borough, petition you to allow yourself to be nominated as a Candidate to represent us at the Greater Wellington Council. Knowing the way you have discharged your duties during the past six years when you represented us on the Melrose Borough, we feel assured you would watch over our interests in the future in as diligent and capable a manner as in the past. We respectfully urge you to accede to our wishes.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, — It gives me great pleasure m accepting your continued assurance of support, and have decided to comply with your request. Although not an orator, I have always made up for any deficiency as a speaker by deeds. I always watched jealously over the interests of the whole of the Borough, not only of the Ward I represented. On all subjects connected with the municipal life of Melrose I have in the past acted without fear or favour. I have never taken advantage of my position as a Councillor to further my" own ends ; my attendance at Council meetings was regular ; I have a thorough knowledge of your wants; my views are not narrow — they are broad, impartial, and fair in every way. My six years' service on the late Council gave me great experience and a knowledge which will hold me in good stead if elected to represent you on the new Council. One of my first efforts will be to endeavour to curtail much of the business now don© in committee. Anything of public interest should be public property, and discussed in open Council. If returned as one of your chosen three. I will undertake to discharge my duties to the citizens of Greater Wellington with earnestness and zeal, and to encourasre a wider municipal life than has prevailed in recent years. ARTHUR HARRY FTJLLFORD.
