THE AUCKLAND INSURANCE COMPANY.

We have pleasure in directing attention to the very marked success of the Auckland Insurance Company. The directors recommended a dividend at the rate of ten per cent, per annum for the half-year, and furthermore carried £730 to the augmentation of the paid-up capital, and £4OO to the reserved fund. In other words. Hie shareholders are paid a dividend of ten per cent., and 10s. per share has been added to the paid-up capital, The business of the company increased during the last half-year, and it is reasonable to suppose that the same measure of prosperity will attend it in the future. We are glad that this local insurance company, like its predecessor, the New Zealand, has been a decided sueCess. There is no instance, indeed, of any well-managed joint-stock undertaking in Auckland proving other than a success ; but our local banks and insurance companies are notable examples of continuous prosperity. We need not enlarge upon the advantages which arc conferred on the community by such local institutions. 'These are sufficiently obvious to render comment unnecessary. We congratulate the Auckland Insurance Company upon the second half-yearly report of the directors. There is room enough for It, and all kindred institutions. —Daily Southern Cross.
