The favorite steamer Beautiful Star, 125 tons, Captain Morwick, arrived in the Tamaki river yesterday morning from Nap : er, with 1,000 sheep, consigned to Mr. Coleman, who arrived as passenger, The Beautiful Star left Auckland on the 26th ult., and after a rapid passage of three days, arrived at Napier. She left Napier for Auckland on the Ist instant, at 2 p.m., with a light S.E. wind to the East Cape, after which had a heavy gale from N.W. On Monday last the gale was so strong that Captain Morwick was compelled to put in at Hicks’ Bay, and remained there till the following day at 9 a.m , when she left with a light wind, and after a few hours experienced a strong gale, and heavy rain, from the N.W., and had to run back to Hicks' Bay. After being in the bay, the gale moderated, when she left for Auckland with a light S.E. wind to White Island,_ and since had strong westerly winds till anchoring in the Tamaki yesterday morning; and after landing the sheep *he steamed up the harbor yesterday afternoon. The schooner Kereti arrived from the Thames yesterday morning, with a cargo of kauri gum and pigs ; she also came alongside the Queen street Wharf the“sarae day to discharge her inward cargo, after which she will return to the Thames to-day. The regular trading schooner Helen, Ricketts master, sailed for Wangaroa yesterday, witu a cargo of sundries. The favorite steamer Waitemata, Captain Martin, will leave the Queen-street Wharf this morning for the Riverhead, and return in the afternoon of the same day. The regular trading schooner Mapere, Captain Thwaite. sailed yesterday for the saw-mills, Tairua, wi'h a general cargo, at which place she will load with timber for Auckland. The brig Princess Alice, Captain Kiddy, sailed last evening for Newcastle. The Chilian barque Tabon, Captain Armstrong, sails to day for Valparaiso in ballast. The schooner Tawera, Captain Kennedy, sailed yesterday for Poverty Bay, with a general cargo. The ship King of Italy, is advertised to sail for Cant rbury on the 14th, wph passengers for the Hokitika gold-fields.
