ARRIVAL OF THE MATO AKA, FROM LONDON. The Matoaka sailed fro n the Downs September 23rd. wind westerly; and on September 27th, the Pilot left off the Start, wind easterly. On the sth of October sighted the islands of Porto Santo, wind S.W ; tacking occasionally until passed Madeira, the wind being from West to S.W., until reaching the latitude of 21 ° north, which c impelled her to pass to the Eas of the Cape de Verde Islands; several vessels in company. Had but two days N.E. and Northerly win Is. On the 19th October, latitude 12 ° 38’ N., longitude 22 ° 46’ W., one of the vessels in company, a large full rigged ship, signailel, but could not distinguish her : variable winds. S. E. October 24, signalled the above ship, which proved to be the Light Brigade, 26 days out, bound to Auckland, who informed us that the vessel to the N.E. was the Robert Henderson, from Glasgow, out 35 days, bound to Otago : ou the 28th Light Brigade in sight from aloft; on the 29th,‘lost sight of our companion, in latitude *6 ° South, longitude 29 ° W., after being in company ten days, fine weather the whole time; got the S.E. trade winds in latitude 3° North. On the 3rd November sighted the island of Trinidad, lost trade winds. On the 22nd November, in latitude 44j ° S., longitude IBj ° E , or abreast of the Cape of Good Hope, a full rigged ship in company to the S.W, distant about five mil s, supposed to be the Light Brigade. On the 20;h December, rounded the South of Van Dieman’s Land, but not near enough to see it, being the 84th day from the Start. The whole of the pasage being very light and variable, with the exception of one or two moderate gales. Three Kings, Sunday, 11 a.m., fair winds down coast. She brings 441 Government immigrants, all in good health; surgeon-superintendent, Air. King. Two deaths and six births are reported on board.
