IT is intended by the projectors, at the request of a large portion of the business men and public generally ot Auckland, to fill a long-felt want by the production of a Penny Evening Paper. In undertaking the arduous task of starting another Journal here, we are fully aware of the great responsibility we lay ourselves under. Having been for years connected with various Morning and Evening Papers, both here and in the old country, and being practical men, we feel ourselves fully competent to carry out the necessary arrangements. In Politics, we shall make it our study to place all questions of moment fully before the Public, and where the interests and prosperity of the Colony are at stake we shall be found constantly at our post. Our Local Institutions shall meet with attention, and we shall on all occasions endeavour to assist in their progress. We shall at all times be most happy to insert any communications with which we may favored, although we will not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed therein by our Correspondents. It is intended that the Post shall contain all matters of local interest, namely:—Share List, Markets, Police, Counci s, Road Boards, Mining Companes, and Telegraphic News, &e., which can be obtained up to the time of going to Press ; for securing which we have made ample provision. The great want felt in this Province of a cheap and respectable advertising medium, which we flatter ourselves this will fill, has induced us to insert advertisements at the following reduced scale : All business advertisements not occupying more than one inch—six insertions, four shillings ; two inches six shillings ; and so on in proportion to the length of the advertisement. Auctioneers will be allowed the usual discount. Advertisements for one, three, or six months ai agreed on. To facilitate the obtaining of servants, situations, I houses, Sic., advertisements not exceeding half an inch, ninepence ; three insertions, two shillings ; and a redaction made in proportion to the length of time for which they are ordered to be inserted. In conclusion, we trust our endeavors will meet with the assistance and approbation of the Public of Auckland, having witnessed the great success which has attended the publication of penny papers similar to the proposed publication. The paper will be published every evening at Four o’clock sharp. No Advertisements received after Two o’clock for that evening’s issue. Temporary Ofpicb : DURHAM-STREET. • (Late KuitiT’a.)
