Captain Andersou, which arrived yesterday at 3 p.m., has just made the smartest run to Napier and back ever performed. She left Auckland on Tuesday the 6th, at 10 a.m., arriving at Napier on Friday morning, at 2 a.m. ; discharged her cargo and received on hoard 969 sheep in 24 hours, leaving that port for Auckland at 230 p.m. on Saturday. Had head winds most of the passage, and arrived in the Tamaki on Monday evening, at 6 p m, thus making the trip from Auckland to Napier and ba«k to the Tamaki in 5 days and 20 hours. Reports passing the s.s. Beautiful Star off Wuite Island on Suaday. The sheep are consigned to Mr. A. B add and,—Henderson and Macfarlane, agents. H.M.S.S. The s.s. Queen took her departure at 1 p.tn. for the Southern Ports with 2 passengers and a small cargo, mostly for Napier. The s.s. Susanna Cnthbert, left the harbour on the night of Tuesday for Port Waikato. The transfer of the Ahuriri has been effected —Mr. Lyon, as one of the directors of the N.Z. .N. Co., having come up by the Queen to complete the transaction. Her cost to the company will be over £IO,OOO. The Ahuriri will be placed for the present in the West Coast trade. The Wonga Wonga will be sent up to go on the line between Auckland and the Bay of Islands. She may be expected here about Friday next, on her way to the north, and will then, as will be seen by advertisement, should a sufficient number of the shareholders of the Hawke’s Bay Company express a wish to that effect, be prepared to perform the pleasure trip to Poverty Bay in lieu of the Anuriri. — Hawke's Bay Herald , September 10.
