Arrival of the " Lord Ashley."—The s.s. herd Ashley arrived on Wednesday morning, having ]<: ft Dunedin on the 20th, Lyttelton on the 22nd, Wellington on the 25th, and Napier on the 27th. The first part of the passage she had strong S. and S.E. winds, and during the latter paat from the S.W. She brings 58 passengers and a large cargo, with three horses. The Lord Ashley reports that the steamer Ballarat was wrecked on Mahia Peninsula ; no particulars to hand, all hands saved. The Scotia was rolling heavily by last advices from the Bluff. The Wellington s.s., arrived at Napier at 11 a.m. on the 27th. The Airedale 5.«., arrived at Dunedin at 3 p.m. on the 17th in time for the mail.
