Photographs Colored lit Oil.—We have recently inspected some portraits taken by Mr. Elsbee beautifully finisl ed in oil. Portraits treated in this manner are far superior to the old system of washing over photographs; with transparent water color, or the still jmore objectionable plan of dusting with color in powder. 1 A photograpuic portrait well worked up in oil combines all the charming coloring and durability of an oil painting with the fidelity of the likeness produced by the camera. We have no hesitation in recommending those of pur readers who wish to possess a permanent and faithful likness to ‘ pay 4 visit to Mr. Elbee’a ftudio.— Lyttelton Times.
