GAS APPARATUS FOR PRIVATE USE, FACTORIES, TOWNS, AND CITIES. STEAM ENGINES, BOILERS AND CASTINGS. MR, BOWER, of St. Neots, England, is the Manufacturer of Gas Apparatus of all dimensions. He has in stock the plant for all sizes from | 20 up to 2000 lights, and he will deliver an order | within one month from receipt of it. Testimonials 1 and references to a selected list of 100 out of a great | number of Gas Works erected by him in England and i various parts of Europe, together with calculations of j the cost of gas—specifications—price lists and other : particulars, will be forwarded on application. With coal at 50s. per ton, gas may be manufactured j where 50 lights are required, burning for eight or 100 ; for four hours per day, at Bs. per 1000 cubic feet:—the price of this apparatus is £135. With 500 lights burning eight or 1000 burning for four hours per day, at ss. 6d. per 1000 cubic feet: —the price of this apparatus is £640. Delivery—free in London inclusive of packing and cases. These estimates of cost of gas allow for wear and tear—five per cent, for capital and three per cent, for renewing plant when worn out. The pipe with fittings for factory use may be taken to cost an average of £1 per light, f. o. b. in London. Although coal is the best material for gas-making yet it may be made from cotton or other seed—bark —wood—oil—in fact, any thing jM with a flame. Mr. Bower supplies cast iron pipe,—lamp ! and brackets, —wrought and composition tube,Ameters, ( —and gas fittings in general. In ordering it will be well to give a plan to scale, | of the factory or house, showing the positions assigned j for the gas works and of the lights. It is also | necessary to state the longest time the lights will be burning per night. Instructions lor fixing and plans, &c., forwarded : with the bills of lading. Plans, Specifications and Estimates prepared for the Lighting of Towns and Cities. Mr. Bower manufactures Steam Engines—vertical and horizontal—fixed and portable, and executes Mechanical Engineering work in general,—equal to any house both as regards price and workmanship. Boilers—Cornish and tubular—of the best plate and proved to a high pressure. Tauks, Girders, and other wrought iron work. Castings of all kinds from drawings, and at moderate prices. Terms:— Credit up to four months by the acceptance of a first-class house in England, or 2£ per cent discount for cash, against bill of lading, on presentation to a London Banker. GEO.
