GENTLEMEN, —Within the last few weeks I felt it to he my duty, for the reasons I then placed before you, to resign into your hands the important trust which you had confided to me. As you are aware, at the public nomination of candidates which took place on Wednesday, I have been proposed for re-election to office. It appears that it is desired that! should hold the office until the end of the term for which I was elected twelve months ago. Being assured of such support in the Provincial Council as will enable me to maintain Immigration to the Province, and to acquire land for the purposes of settlement, I shall be prepared to resume the duties of the Superintendency if I should now again be honored with your suffrages. 1 have the honor to be, Gentlemen, Your obedient, humble servant, J.
