Bank of New Zealand.—We perceive that it is intended to hold the half-yearly general meeting of the proprietors of this Bank in the Banking House in Auckland, on Wednesday, the 30th April, at noon. The business, besides other matters, consists in receiving the report of the Directors for half-year ending 31st March, and for the election of another Director in place of John Logan Campbell, Esq., who retires by lot. Municipal Police Act.—A Municipal Police Act has been passed by the Provincial Council, received the Governor's assent, and is now the law of the land; —in another portion of the paper we publish this Act in full for the benefit of our fellow citizens who will henceforth become amenable to its various clauses. New Zealand Gazette.—A Keto Zealand Gazette was published ou the 23rd instant, and contains amongst other information, orders in council {appointing district of Taupo under " Native Districts Regulations Act, 1858," and under the " Native Circuit Courts Act, 1858.'' Also for the issuing of wine, &c, duty free to military and naval messes. The Gazette contains the appointments of the various officers to their respective volunteer corps throughout New Zealand; the acceptance of the resignation of Captain G. R. Breton of the Auckland Naval Volunteers; the disallowance of the Governor to the " Manakau Harbor Endowments Bill, 1862," and his assent to the " Provincial Auditor's Salary Bill, 1862," both of which] bills had been passed by the Provincial Council oi Auckland. There also appear letters from His Excellency the Governor and Lieut.-General Cameron, thanking the Volunteers for their having taken the garrison duty of Auckland, and expressive of the satisfactory manner in which that duty has been performed, which will be found in another part of this day's paper; -th2 returns of Customs Revenue during the quarter ended 31st December, 1861; the returns of the number, tonnage, and crews of vessels cleared outwards, and of the value of imports and exports from and to the several ports of New | Zealand during the same date are given in detail. It i will be seen that the increase of revenue in Auckland during the year 1861, oveitfhe preceding year, amounts to a sum of £15,637 12s. 'Od., the increase upon the same quarter over the preceding quarter in IS6O being £3,502 7s. Id.—in Duuedin the same quarter's increase amounts to no less a sum than £31,100, and in Invercargillto £lO2l 17s.—throughout the other ports of New Zealand there is but slight difference of either increase or decrease. The grosj difference in favor of the Southern Island over the Northern for the same Quarter is only £1,015 ss. 3d., notwithstanding the enormous advance in the returns from Dunedin, which counterbalances the decrease which, has occurred in the other Southern Ports.
