SUPREME COURT.

The following trials have taken place. John Witheringham, stealing in a dwelling house, guilty—six months' imprisonment with hard labour. Edwin Gabbitas and Bertram Poole, Privates R.A., stealing apparel, Gabbitas guilty—l2 months, with hard labour. Poole acquitted. Peter Burns, for stealing money from a native named Ruka, was found guilty, and sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. Thomas Harvey was found guilty of uttering a forged cheque, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Bertram Poole, a Private of the R.A., was convicted of stealing a dead sheep and other property from the shop of Mr. Scarrott, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. John Ritchie was acquitted cf stealing two watches and a locket from the house of Robert Turner, of Onehunga. Cornelius Harrington, a soldier, was arraigned for escaping from prison—acquitted. Similar indictments preferred against eleven others were ordered to be quashed. Thomas Parker, a Private in the Commissariat Staff Corps, was convicted of stealing a cheque for £l4, the property of Mr. Du Moulin—nine months' imprisonment with hard labour. Daniel Burke, a Private of the 70th Regt., was put upon his trial for the muider of Heslin, a Private of the 14th. Guilty of man-slaughter—lo years penal servitude. Yesterday, Laycoek, Edwards, and Nibbs, three Privates of the Royal Artillery, were placed at the bar, on the charge of stabbing Dr. Neil), 65th Regt. The trial is still proceeding.
