SIR, —Articles having appeared both in the “ Southern Cross” and “ New-Zealander” upon the above subject, containing serious imputations prejudicial to the character of Mr. Hargreaves (the owner of Deception), I have to state in his behalf that he is taking such proceedings as will effectually place the whole facts before the public, in order that it may be seen that nothing has been done by him, in regard to the races, but that which as a gentleman and a man of honor he was fully justified in doing. In the mean time, Mr. Hargreaves deems it best to refrain from making any statement of facts or comments in answer to the articles alluded to, but at the proper time and place he will be prepared to give a full and complete answer to the unfounded charges made and insinuated in the said articles. X remain, Sir, Your obedient servant, 11. W. WYNN, Solicitor, Fraser’s Rnilldings. Tfi Editor 11 Kcwtfealtiiuler ”
