The Second Investigation of the Society’s affairs shewed as the results of the five years’ business, ending February 28th, 1859, a pro fit of more than 50 per cent, on the liabilities. After making an ample reserve, the profit divided among the members amounted to more than 40 per cent, on the value of the policies. In his Report, dated October 3rd, 1859, the Actuary states that “ there is every reason to expect that the existing business will, on future occasions, shew an increaring ratio of profit.” A Policy of Life Assurance effected 0 in June, 1849, by a person then aged 40 for £SOO, now stands as a Policy for £092 13s. od., and on February 28th next, and at the expiration of each year thereafter, it will have a further addition of £l2 Gs 7d, until 1864, when the next division takes place. Another effected in 1853, the age at entrance being the same, now stands as £546 10s., and for each complete year it exists thereafter until the next division, it will have a further addition of £9 <3s. 4d. made to it. A Deferred Annuity Policy effected in 1849, commencing in 1867 for £2O, now stands as for £29 Is lOd. An Endowment of £4OO originally, procured 9 years ago, payable on the majority of a Child in 1870, is now a policy for £SOO 17s. 9d.
