The New-Zealander.
Auckland, Wednesday, March 4, 1857. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
Be just and fear not; Let all the ends thou aim'st at, be thy Country's, Thy God's, and Truth's.
From a Provincial Government Gazette issued yesterday afternoon, we learn that the following gentlemen have been appointed by the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council, to be the Commissioners of the Board of Education :—The Rev. David Bruce, Mr. Joseph Brennan, Mr. Archibald Clark, Mr. Thomas Cheeseman, Mr. Henry Mahon Jervis, Rev. John Frederick Lloyd, Mr. Laughlin O'Brien, Mr. William Phillipps, and Rev. Alexander Reid. —This list of names, we feel sure, will give full confidence to the Province as to the manner in which the Commissioners will fulfil their duties under the Education Act, and as to the desire of the Provincial Government to have the provisions of that Act carried out with the most sincere regard to the impartial and unscctarian principles on which it is based.
