The result of the applications made to the electors has been, that so large a number of names has been affixed to the requisition, and such numerous promises of support given in addition, {hat the Central Committee of the Association already feel assured that it ia the wish of the majority of the electors that Mr. Whitaker shall igaiu offer himself as a candidate. The numerous applications to tba Committee for information as to the progress made, and ag to the probability of the assurances of support being sufficient to justify Mr. Whitaker in accepting the requisition, have induced the Committee, at a meeting held this day, to direct the publication of'that document, together with a list of the names already affixed, and to intimate that it will be presented as soon as some lists from the more |istant Settlements shall have been received. * (Signed) Patrick Dignax, Chairman of Meeting.
