"TO BE! OR NOT TO BEE?"
Fair ladies, when you read this lay, Ne'er judge it as a theme plebian, Nor turn aghast at what I say, Resulting from the Antipodean. A column vast therein appears, Containing a sweet Th to ry on The culture, by all pretty dears, Of BAHRBN spots, Antipodean. In honied words the theme is used, Insisting that the bees, should be on All occasions, not abused, But fed with sweets — Antipodean. To which good end your aid is called, Inviting ladies European, To set to work, and unap pulled, Commence the scheme Antijmdean. Oh ! pray beware then of your Harts, Although as bold as Coeur de Lion; Remembering that Bees have darts, To wound each fair Ant tjwdean. Then ladies fair, '• take hoe in hand," And plant sweet flowers, the Bees to flee on ; Grubbing all BXrrisn plots of land, As recommended by th' Antipoaean. AB. B. Auckland, 29th July, 184ff.
