We are glad to hear that the School-master is at home in New Zealand. The different religious sects aie doing their utmost towards bringing up the children of their (locks, so as to make them intelligent and worthy citizens in afterlife. School ron the Natives. — The Rev. J. Watkins is about to commence a school, for the purpose of instructing the Natves of Te Aro,or else where, in the rudiments of ihe English language. This praiseworthy and humane intention, so highly creditable to the Wesleyans, the original movers in the plan, must be 'productive oE lasti ng benelit to the country. The disagreements betwern the two races never can be properly adjusted, until the Maoris are bred to the use of the same tongue with ourselves. Every man desirous of rendering hit adopted country a service, will cordially co operate in endeavouring to carry out the intentions of the ltev, J.-Watkins.— lbid.

A Meeting of Sunday School teachers and ohers interested in religious education, was held in Thorndon Chapel on Tuesday evening last, the the ltev. J. Watkin in thechair. Mr. Woodward, having read thecorrepondende which had passed between himself, and the Secretary of the Sunday School Union of London, and having shewn specimens of the very liberal donation of books and school requisites received from that body, it was unanimously resolved to form a Sunday School Union for New Zealand. — Three of (he ministers resident here, the Rev, Messis. Watkin and liouside, We&lej an, and Mr. Woodward, Congregationalist, took part in the proceedings, and we hope the time may haste ned by this and similar means, when "all who profess and call themselves Christians" will unite heaitily in "every good woid and work."
