APPEAL BOARDS WANTED. DEPUTATION TO IMMAIJ'] MINISTER ' SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE'S ATTITUDE. CHKISTCHURCU, .lauuary 10. ■ This morning a deputation representing a Second Division League waited on the Prime Minister' with a request that.a Royal Commission should be setup to,investigate the question 'of medical classification in connection with theadiiiinistration of the Military Service Act, The deputation-also asked for the setting-up of a Medical Appeal. ; Board, In which reservists dissatisfied' with their classification could appeal. Air Gresson, who m-ted as spokesman, said Ihat Ihe Second Division was dissatisfied, with tile present medical classification, especially regarding 'the CI cases.' The Second Division was loyal and ready to do its duty, but it wanted a stricter medical examination, Such strict medical examination should take place before a man went into camp, in order to .obviate the sending of unlit men to camp. These men, after ' giving u)i their business and breaking' up their homes, subsequently found themselves discharged from camp,, The Second Division League would support a Jioyal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the whole question. ; The Second' Division also asked for appointment of an independent medical board, to whom men dissatisfied with their medical classification could appeal. There was a process in operation now by which a recruit could secure reexamination, but it was very involved, there was too much delay, and few knew .anything about it. They asked that when men were being examined two independent medical men should be on the premises, ami if a man felt that ho was not properly classified he could bo immediately're-examined by these doctors. : ' ■ ' *.'■ .-' in support of the request- Mr Gresson | quoted tho case of a man, known-to himself, who wore .glasses.
