VICTIMS IN CRITICAL CONDITION. (Per Press Association), YVANGANUI, September 10. In connection with the Kaungaroa tragedy, the hospital doctor states that had the axe been sharp all the victims would have been killed. In two cases the.brain was protruding. Watson is still in a critical condition. Mrs Ben- , nier is in a'low state. Bonnier cut his throat to the windpipe. Appearances point to' Bennier having slashed his throat and then walked to the river with the intention of drowning himself. "but he returned to the house and again cut his throat.
