BANDSMEN IN FRANCE.

FOURTH BRIGADE'S COMBINATION. "Bandsman E. L, Reeve, formerly a well-known Kaiapoi bandsman, writing to his relatives in Kaiapoi, sends the following description of the 4th New Zealand Brigade Band:— Just a few lines to let you know I am still alive and well, I would like very much to state a few of the band's

experiences since, ariving on foreign soil, but, of course, the restrictions do not at present permit, Unfortunately, our ranks have been considerably thinned'on account of our military duties in the trenches. Fitzgerald, of the Oauinru Garrison 8.8., and the assistance of the bandsmen we could get of any Reinforcement, we are now getting along nicely. lam again tempted to elaborate upon the fine work of the band, but, of course, that would be over-stepping the mark, and I do not want to do that these days, However, I enclose with best wishes of the band to all who may know them; the following names, and bands they previously played in before enlistening:— Bandmaster A.
