THE LOSS OF THE OPOURI, The Marine Department advises that Captains Lobb (Westport Coal Company's shore staff) ami Crawford, of 'Lyttelton, -haws been .appointed to act 'as nautical assessors at the magisterial Inquiry to be held at Greymoufh concerning the stranding of the coastal steamer Opouri. Mr E. P, Turner, of "the Christclnirch tramways, has been •'appointed engineer assessor, as the Istranding was due to the parting of the nulder chains. The inquiry commenced yesterday. The wreck of the-.Opouri will bo sold by auction at Greymouth at noon on Wednesday. The purchasers will be rcquii'cd'to accept all liabilities connected with tho removal of the wreck.

THE LYTTELTON-GREYMOUTH SERVICE. Friday's Grey River Argus says: The Orcpuki is going to replace the Opouri on the Greyniouth-Lyttelton run. It will l be pleasing news to the business public of the West Coast to know that they arc not going to lose the weekly run between the two ports altogether. The directors of the company have -gone out of their way to secure this' service, but in face of the past support by consigness generally, they felt it was Iheir duty to assist them by placing the Orcpuki at their services.
