(From a Correspondent.) Some time ago tho ladies of Weston and Ardgowau forwarded a Christmas box io each of the local hoys .at the front—sonic forty-fivo in all—and to meet the expense incurred in this way, they held a very successful concert and dance, The concert party, which hailed from Oamaru, was, without doubt, the very best procurable, and their hits on sonic of the local specialists were very good. It is a good number of years siii(!c a Weston audience had tho pleasure of listening to such a line performance. There were!also sweets for sale, and some flowers.. The local hall.was packed to tho doors, and the dance which followed was also well patronised. The amount raised, togotlior.with a few donations collected at ut recent shooting match, reach within n few shillings of £24, which sum must be.very gratifying to. the ladies, who ..worked, hard to make, the evening a success. It is understood.the Hall'.Committee intend having a c'oncevt and dance shortly, and it is to be hoped tjfat.th'ey,too, will have a packed house, as they have arranged for a very ■ good.'. programme. ...
