REURNED SOLDIERS AT OAMARU
(To the Editor of "The Times.")
Sir, —lit reply to your sub-leader on my previous letter. With all due respect, you have i|ot altogether understood my alleged grievance. To lie move specific re the returned men's arrival—the squad arrived Monday night, the !)th inst, I do not, and neither do those .who have complained to me of the treatment meted out to our returned men, expect the men to get a function siniilar to the one given l at Oaninru, the day they leave for camp. But, Sir, the least the men should receive is ''an official, welcome home," a hand-shake by Hie Mayor as representing both the citizens of Oanlarn and the Patriotic Committee, and a few well-chosen words of cheery welcome. As soon as that is done.the men couldthen mix with and leave to go to their friends and relatives,' as'you mention. As for the "welcome home socials," let each district, attend to that part of the business. I regret to nave to admit that some returned men have not been tendered the welcome., home 'socials they were and are entitled to.—l am, etc., ': ■ COUNTRY.
