SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE.
WELLINGTON CONFERENCE. (Per Press Association,) WELLINGTON, July 18. Addressing the £jecoml Division League Conference, Sir J, Allen said lie felt fairly safe in predicting that the combing out and re-examination of the remaining First Division reservists would produce at least one reinforcement, possibly two, The classification of the Second Division would not be completed until August. conTulent of the loyal support of the Second Division, and the Government would do its best to relieve them of 'heir difficulties iu respect to wives and dependants. He could not give definite informal ion, but intended to submit a scheme to Parliament as early as possible,
ATTITUDE OP FARMERS' UNION. (Per Press Association. 1 ' CHBISTCinJBCH, July 18. At a meeting of the North Canterbury Farmers' Union, held to-day the following motion was carried:—"That this meeting 'asks the annual conference of ihe Farmers' Union what position the union intends to take up with regard to (he calling np of the Second Division, and what steps should be taken to enable the farms of the balloted men to be carried on,"
