Maepherson announced important Arabian successes. King Hoiljaz's forces captured tlie Turkish posts between Talihimiic and Akaba. Seven luimlred Turks were killed and six hundred captured. It is also announced 'that a Turkish battalion was destroyed on the '2nd July, and Aedjaz railway damaged at many points. TURKS ACTIVE. PREPARING FOR TIIRUST AT BAGHDAD., . (Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association) WASHINGTON, July 12. It has been reported to the State Department that the Turks arc about to start a drive in Mesopotamia, under Marshal von Mackensen.
