WELLINGTON, July 1!!, llic Council of Agriculture 'to-day lesolved that the Government be asked to give effect ,to the recommendation of the Efficiency Board in regard to nonessential industries, and to divert labour to the production of clothing and foodstuffs °

It was that it was desirable that further research work in. agricultural chemistry be carried out and encouraged by the Government.

The Conference strongly supported the abolition of the excess profits tax, and, in place thereof, suggested that the graduated income tax be increased. REMITS FOl?. PARLIAMENT. The Council of Agriculture passed remits requesting the Government to take action and liave the allowance of the draft on wool abolished; that tho allowance of 21b frozen meat and lib on every lamb sold by the Government be hot allowed. Iteniits dealing with the shipping problem and suggesting methods for talcing over business'until the return of normal times, after discussion, were referred to the Board of Agriculture.
