; A Sydney cable message reports the death of Larry Foley, the pugilist. In to-day's list of the reported killed in action there appears the name Of Private Aubrey Mervyn Rudd, whose next-of-kin is Mr A. Rudd, of Tokarahi. A London cable message states that Captain C.S. Humphries, of the Highland Light Infantry, who belongs to Christchurch, has been awarded the Military Cross. Mr James S i Moir, advertising manager of the Southland News, has taken oyer the managership of the Oamaru Mail .Co., iu succession to Mr \Y, Robertson who is proceeding on active service. / Mr Morgan O'Brien (late proprietor of the'-Waimate Hotel) and family took .their departure for Christrliurcli on Thursday. They were given a popular send-off by boarders, lionse-staff, and townspeople. Mr O'Brien intends to live privately for a time in Christ-..-aurch.- .
