A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RESOLUTION. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, J U ]y 9. The Council of the Chamber of Commerce passed a motion "Viewing with profound regret the proposed transfer of the control of the Union Steam Ship Company to the P. and 0. Companv, believing that it may result in serious disadvantage to the trading interests of ■he Dominion. While the council is not' prepared to recommend the Govern:iicut to oppose the transfer of the >linrcs, it expresses the opinion that the Government should exercise groat watchfulness respecting any new control over Jhis very important portion of the shipping facilities ,of the Dominion, and take such steps as may be possible to safeguard our trading interests."
