WAIAREKA STOCK SALE,

There was mi exceptionally, small yarding of all classes of stock at. the weekly Sale held 'yesterday, due partly to the recent wot Aventlior and also lo the scarcity of stock. More fat sheep came forward'"than at last week's yarding. Fat, sheep' ranged from 2iis to 2Ss, and stores from L'JJs.'.'id to 34s 4d. Pat catile sold from £7 2s (id to £l2, and stores from £2 8s to £7; The yarding consisted of .139 fat and 503

A few small lots of wheat have been coming forward from Norili Canterbury district, which had apparently only been lately threshed, there having been difficulty in securing a machine earlier, The grain market is exceedingly quiet. In fact there is very little business doing in any line of produce,

The potato market is still lifeless, the sending forward to the North Island, on consignment, of a considerable quantity of potatoes from the sonlh having affected the market. Apparently these potatoes have come from areas that were flooded six weeks ago, and the condition is therefore not very satisfactory. When these supplies have been reduced .it is hoped (lie market may improve, In the meantime there are few local sellers, and buyers arc indifferent about making purchases at any price, There is still a keen demand for seed potatoes. Ordinary white varieties are worth about £3, guaranteed Up-to-date £3,159, Breeze's prolific £4, British Queen £5, and early varieties such as Robin Adair, Beauty of Hebron, and Early Rose, £8 per lon,

DUNEDIN MARKETS. Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., report: We hold our usual weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday, when values ruled as under:— Oats.—Prime heavy Gartons are in good demand, and for this class of oats prices arc well mainlined. There is also a fair demand for clean lines suitable for seed. Feed oats show a slight decline. We quote: Prime milling 4s to •Is Id, good to best feed 3s !)d to 3s lOd, inferior to medium 3s 3d to 3s Sd per burhel (sacks extra). Wheat.—The quantity of milling wheat on offer is small, and all lots coming forward 'are readily placed. Fowl wheat is also scarce, and best whole fowl wheat meets ready sale at 3s lOd to (Is per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.—Fair supplies still continue to arrive, and any lots of prime wellgraded potatoes are in good demand. We quote: Well-graded table sorts £5 to £;> 3s, medium'to good £4 10s to £4 15s, others £4 to £4 ss'per ton (sacks included).

Chaff.—There is pood demand for prime oaten slienf, and any lots coming to hand meet with ready sale. We quote: Best oaten-sheaffc") 12s Cd to £5 17s Gd, choice black oats to £6, medium to good £a os to £3 10s, light and discoloured £4 log to £5 per ton (bags extra).
