HOLY DAYS.

QUESTION BEFORE CHRIST. CHURCH PRESBYTERY.

(Per Press Association.) CIIRISTCHURCH, July It),

The matter of the observance of Holy Days, eaine before the Christchureh Presbytery aga)n to-day, when it was agreed to transmit to the General Assembly the following overture submitted by the Rev, J, Dickson:—

"Whereas it has seemed good to a number of our worthy ministers, in some ' i parts of the Church, to take notice of Good- Friday and other llolv Days, by holding special services, and the Lord's Supper thereon, in the interests, as they believe, of the Kingdom of God; and, whereas in tho estimation of others, the public celebration of tliosd Holy Days is contrary to the law and practice of the Church; and, whereas some conscientiously believe that the tendency of the above practice is to belittle tho Lord's Day, and as not differing from that of many who celebrate these days, to throw a stumbling block in the way of weaker brethren, and'to lead the people Roinewards, this Presbytery hereby overtures the General Assembly to define the Church's position in these matters, in order to conserve tho peace of the Church, and as far as possible uniformity of worship, or to do, as in its wisdom, it may seem best."
