The monthly meeting of the' Advisory Goniinitto.of tho North Otago branch of the Red Cross Society was held in the Ambulance- Hall on Saturday. Letters of acknowledgment for gifts distributed were received from Dr Wylie, Brockenhurst (two), Dr Isaacs, New Zealand Stationary .Hospital, France (one), the 3rd Field Ambulance New Zealand Division, France (one). A letter re quota for hospital ship was considered. It was decided to supply the following: (10 pyjamas, 100 handkerchiefs, 30 sheets, 90 face cloths, • The report for the month sho\ycd: Receipts £447 19 Gd (including £lO2 for the Barnardo appeal); expenditure on material amounted to £3(>4 12s 3d. Special donations during the. month were: Patriotic bowling tournament, £10; Pukeuri initial quilt, £3 13s Gd; Otekaike concert and sales, £3l 9s; Kia Ora, proceeds lecture, £1 ss; Mrs Pochin's evening, £2 10s; Papakaio eoncert, £l6 Is; Windsor Market, £4l 5s 9d; Town Market, £2-1 Is; Weston and .Ardgowan, £25 17s Sd; Kakanui Market, £27 15s; Enfield, £39 10s (id; total from markets, £lßl fls lid.

The fund for the Dr Barnardo Homes now stands at £205 19s sd, of which £144 vSs Id has beeli raised by the markets.

Shipments for the month were: Thirty eases for Egypt, and 52 cas.'s for England; value £-181 .l'os, making total to date £5357 Ss Od. The result of the Dr Baniardo Appeal was considered most satisfactory, and it was decided that the appeal be closed on July 21st. The chairman explained what hadboon done by the executive with regard to the appeal for the French lied Cross, It was proposed by Hiss Banks and Mrs Carmichael, and carried unanimously, that the action of the executive be approved, and that July be devoted to an appeal for funds for one hundred pairs of white blankets at £1 per pair, and three hiimlrcil cardigans at Ss each. It was also decided that each branch make a special effort in connection with this appeal for the French. In connection with the "Our Bay" appeal received through his Excellency the Governor-General, from the British Hed Cross, a summary of the report for March of Hie British Red Cross packing department was read. Mrs Brewster pointed out the advisability of making every effort possible to raise funds, in view of the fact that, with the present offensive, the need at Home was ever increasing, and she moved- that during August, .September, ami October'till the closing day, special efforts be made on behalf of this appeal. This was seconded by Mrs 1), Williams, and carried unanimously.

In addition to the suggestions already made by the- executive, namely- an art union, entertainments, gifts for auction, ami a street collection, it was decided that Violet and Daffodil Day be lield on the same lines as last year, and also a coupon day should be arranged. The secretary was also instructed to circularise schools, sports chilis, and the Egg Circle and ask them lo again assist. A proposal from the Rugby Union to hold a seven-aside tournament for the funds, was received with thanks.'

Leave of absence was granted to Mrs Lee during her stay in Wellington. The meeting wished her a pleasant holiday.
