POULTRY SOCIETY'S SHOW.

' SECOND DAY; The Oamaru Poultry. Society concluded its two days' show on Saturday night. Though the weather was not at nil that which could have been desired for the second day, ypt there was throughout tho day a good attendance and the officials pronounce the' show ,i decided success, both, as regards the number of entries-ami the attendance, considering the circumstances. On Saturday morning the cats were judged by Mr C. A. Browne and resulted in the following gaining successes:— . Persian Cat (male)— Miss Juan Travis. Persian Cat (female)— Mrs D, Gillies 1, Miss N, Mitchell 2, ■Halfbred Persian Stanley Riach 1, R. Clarke 2, Mrs D. Gillies 3, Any athcr variety cat—Mra W. Curwood 1, Miss Grace Brown 2. " Largest cat-Mrs Tripp 1, Mrs L. Mitchell 2. Guinea Pig—Miss Melba Mitchell 1. The judge commented favourably on the exhibit of cats which were, as a whole, a line lot. Mrs Glilics' cat was very well groomed and prepared for the show being the best groomed' animal in tho show, and well deserved the first prize, Though tho only entry in the male class, Miss Jean Travis'cat was a good specimen which the judge said had the makings of a really good eat. In the halfbred Persian male prize, Mr R. Clarke's cat should have won being the nicest of the two but it lacked show condition, The winner of the "any other variety" class was a beautiful jet black barn door variety, and was'a nice animal. "Almost the size of a young tiger," was the opinion passed on the winner of the prize for the largest cat, that of Mrs Tripp, a fine specimenweighing 15Jlbs, while the winner of the second prize was three lbs lighter in weight. ■
