DUNEDIN MARKETS. , GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. DUNEDIN, July 7. There is very little to record as-re-gards the local wheat -market. Oatmeal is quoted at £2l a ton for 25's; pearl barley, £l9 10s; pollard, £7 os (fixed by Government); brail, £4 (fixed by Government),

The oats market continues in a stagnant condition, but prices remain firm, /with, however, some irregularity. Shipments of Australian oats to the North Island, and the lack of shipping space from Duiicdin to the north, have materially affectcd exports from the south, PRODUCE REPORT. A fair amount of chaff is arriving on the local market-quite sufficient to meet tin.- local demand. Prime sorts continue to receive the most attention, There is no demand for export, Lvttclton under-quoting local agents. Wheaton .straw is very plentiful, but, on the other hand, oaten straw is scarce. The potato market is On the weak side, but £5 us is obtainable for firstclass samples. Medium ami poor quality are in over-supply. There is a good inquiry for seed lines.

Supplies of Melbourne onions arc not too plentiful, Canterbury-grown are finished.

Eggs have again slumped in price, and have experienced quite a heavy decline over the past four weeks. The fall in price is uncxplainable in view of the high cost of fowl wheat. There is not a particularly keen demand, even at- the low prices. There was a small yarding of pigs at the' Burnside sales this week, the supply not being equal to the demand, and prices being a shade dearer than last week. Current wholesale prices arc as follow: Chaff—Prime oaten sheaf, £5 !0s to £1 I os; medium to good, £4 15s to £5 (sacks extra). OAMARU MARKETS. Grain. No change is reported in the grain market, which is almost in a stagnant condition. The offerings of wheat have not exceeded 150 sacks, and millers are depending on their present stocks. An even inquiry for seed wheat is still being met with, . and moderate quantities for spring sowing are going out. Government prices now ruling for July are:—Pearl' anil Velvet 5s IOAd, Hunter's 5s OJil, {Tuscan 5s BJd per bushel, ' . Oats—There have been no Oats offering and business remains unaltered. Sales are hard to place in feed' Gartons and Algerians owing to shipping conditions, Light feed Cartons are ruling at 3s fid to 3s 7d on trucks, and up to 3s IOJd is given for heavy seed A grades net in country. Seed oats continue in fair demand.

Barley,—There has been a fair demand, and a few small'lines at from 5s 6d to (is (id have been sold.

Potatoes. —None have been offering and the market is ilat. Prices are

[ranging from £3 os up to £3 10s. There are very few buyers,, however, at the latter price. The North Island markets are still working off the extra supplies shipped last month, Stock, Transactions have been few and business in general is quieter. Sheep anil cattle are scarce. Killing operations will soon be completed, the works closing down for the season next Satin-

day. I'rices are practically on a par with last week's quotations. Sheep—Only small lots averaging about 3UO sheep have been changing

hands, and these have been hard to price. Buyers are plentiful, but no .sellers have come forward. Following are the quotations:—Mixed sex hoggets 24s Od to 25s Oil, ewe hoggets 24s to 23s (according to quality), store wethers up to 28s !M, cull wethers up to 245, thrccquarterbreil aged (fair conditioned) up to 23s (id. A line of fat wethers were sold for 345.

Rattle.—There is a very good demand in young cattle, and also in stores, but none have been on the market. Store bullocks are worth from £lO to £l2. Dairy cows near calving continue in keen demand, but are scarce. They are quoted at, for best cows, £l2 to £l3, ami for medium sorts £9 to £lO, dairy heifers at £S.
