, ATTEMPT TO CHLOROFORM GUESTS. TWO MEN ARRESTED. (Per r-rcsV-Association.) CFIHISTCHURCH, July G. Two men \ye been arrested on suspicion of being; concerned in a senrational, affair in the Clarendon Hotel. Early yesterday morning a man and his wife staying in u ie ] lotc i were wakened by the fumes of chloroform. They darted up, alarming a mysterious visitor or visitors, who decamped leaving a chloroform-soaked handkerchief. The polite found a revolver in the lavatory. At the Police Court, to-day William Kennaird and Robert Invin' Iteaehlen were chared that, at the Clarendon Hotel yesterday, they u=cil chloroform with intent to commit a crime. The accused wore remanded for a week.
