Mr Lloyd George, speaking in the House of Commons, announced that the Irish Convention would assemble in Dublin on July 25! h. The preliminary business would be to appoint a chairman, The Hon. H. E. Duke would act as provisional chairman and the Government would nominate a chairman in the event of the Convention no;, agreeing over the appointment, Most of the nominations of delegate:! had already been received, Eminent Irishmen were from all parts in the spirit of conciliation in an endeavour to secure a settlement of the old discords. The Government would do its best towards the same end.
