TOTARA HALL TRUST.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual .meeting of the Tdtara Public Hall Trust was held in the Hall on Saturday evening last, there being only a moderate attendance. An apology for absence was received from Mr W, J. Rogers. Mr John Macpherson (chairman) prep''H and read tho animal report'and balance-shoot, which was as follows: " (hiring our' term of office seven' meetings woro held which were fairly well, attended. Tho most important event inlhe year's work was the installation of the " Wizard" light, throughout the entire hall, which we arc pleased to say is giving great satisfection and working without a hitch. In this connection our thanks are due to the chairman who in our interests supervised the work of the installation. Special thanks are also due to Mr 11. Howes, the local representative of tho "Wiz-, ard" for his donation'of H and also the further donation of £1 lis cost of advertising concert arranged by Mr McKiunon and party from Oamaru, for the purpose of assisting to raise funds U;Wi to pay the cost of installation. As a result tl)6 Trust.funds were increased by £i;t His «d. To thoseMailies and gentlemen comprising the concert party we now return our sincere thanks. Wo also wish to record our thanks to Messrs John Macphe'rsoii, David Clark and Wm. Kingan for lending cars to convey performers to and from the concert. .We also wish to convey a hoarty vote of thanks to all the ladies who assisted in any way with refreshments. A most welcome donation of a suitable curtain and rod for the hall platform was received from the Totnra Red Cross Society. A loan of £25 was arranged from' Messrs Ongley and Bullcid to help defray the cost af the "Wizard" light. ' '

Winsley's loau of £l3 with interest added has been paid in full, Our income has been considerably reduced this year as your committee decided to grant a considerable reduction in the fixed rents charged for all patriotic concerts and socials during the duration of the war. At the last meeting of the Trust an offer from Miss Doak, of Alma, to provide a concert in aid of the Trust funds was held over for the new committee to deal with. To MrJohiri'feLean we record a special vote of thanks in recognition of his valuable services as auditor of the Trust accounts and books. A special vote of thanks is due to Mr William Macphorson for his services in attending to the lighting of the "Wizard" light, since its installation.

those present/ The secretary was instructed to write " to Mr D, Btiick and family, of Deborah, ■ expressing the regret of the Trust mem-1 bcrs at tho death of his son David, | who was recently killed' in action in i France, and who for some time prior to voluntarily enlisting was an active member of tho hall committee, and also to write to Mr and Mrs Smith and family, Alma, expressing deep regret at the death "of their son Charles who was recently killed in France, lie having at all times shown' a practical interest \ln the hall affairs. i The following gentlemen voluntarily retired from office according to the rules of the Trust, viz.: Messrs John Macpberson, A. Lindsay, P. Dunne and I! T: Perry, and all being eligible were JI j re-elected, there being no further noini- 1 nations.' ill

At a subsequent meeting of the trustees Messrs Macpherson and Lindsay were re-elected to the offices of chairman and secretary and treasurer respectively. Miss.Doak's offer to provide a eoncert in aid of the 'funds was accepted with thanks, and the secretary was instructed to write to lier accordingly.
